The Fourth Annual Arab Thought Foundation Conference on Arab and
World Media took place on December 5th and 6th, 2005. The hosts sincerely thank all of the sponsors, speakers and delegates for their active
participation in a unique gathering that fostered new understanding and should support improved dialog within and about the Arab world.
Top journalists and media executives from around the world will join their Arab colleagues at the invitational gathering in Dubai on the 5th and 6th of December 2005. Delegates will discuss changes in the Arab world, build relationships, validate assumptions, develop a deeper understanding of the region, and make sure they are Getting it Right.
The format will be highly interactive, led by provocative moderators, who will elicit candor and manage debate about complex questions, including:

Key Speakers
HRH Alwaleed bin Talal - Prince Alwaleed is known as the 'tycoon prince' for his very successful investment ventures. His portfolio is strong in media and entertainment companies, and he will share his insights on the best media investments today.
Naguib Sawiris - Naguib Sawiris is the Chairman and CEO of Orascom, the leading telecom firm in North Africa, as well as a board member of the Arab Thought Foundation. Sawiris will talk about the impact of technology on media.
Samia Nakhoul - Samia Nakhoul is the Gulf Bureau Chief for Reuters. Reporting from the Middle East for almost 20 years, she is an expert on the region's political and religious demensions. While covering the 2003 Iraq War she was severely injured by a tank shell and had to undergo brain surgery in a Baghdad hospital.
Abdul Rahman Al Rashed - Abdul Rahman Al Rashed was recently named General Manager at Al Arabiya. After a distinguished career, he now runs one of the most influential satellite news stations that serve the Arab community. Mr. al-Rashed is one of the most highly respected media leaders in the region.
Jim Kelly - Jim Kelly is the Managing Editor of TIME magazine. Kelly is a 25-year veteran of TIME. The American magazine is one of the most widely-read in America, with over 5 million subscribers and 4 million monthly website visitors. Mr. Kelly will share his insight on 'What Determines Page One News'.
Deborah Amos - Deborah Amos covers Iraq for the American National Public Radio News. Her reports can be heard on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” “All Things Considered” and “Weekend Edition.”She has won several awards, including an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award and a Breakthru Award.
